Quique Setien Says He Will Not Resign As Barcelona Manager

Jul 18, 2020 2:03 PM

Quique Setien said he has not thought about resigning from his Barcelona position despite Lionel Messi's outburst calling the team "inconsistent" and "weak."

Setien added that he was looking forward to proving himself in the Champions League.

"Some things we agree on and other things we don't. [Messi] is right to say that if we play as badly as we have done in some games, we won't win anything.

"But we have also played well in other games and, playing like that, we could win things. We have to be more consistent. If we manage to play as we did against Villarreal, we could win the Champions League," said Setien.

Setien had a meeting with Josep Bartomeu following Barcelona's 4-2 loss to Osasuna on Friday.

"It's normal that there are meetings of this type. We are all restless to improve. We try to look for solutions to change things and that's what the meeting was about."

Sergio Ramos: Refs Not Responsible For Real Madrid Winning

Jul 5, 2020 2:06 PM

Sergio Ramos said that Real Madrid were not receiving favorable calls from the refs following their 1-0 win over Athletic Bilbao.

Ramos scored a penalty in the match, his 10th goal of the season.

"We aren't going to win or lose the league thanks to referees. Whoever has made mistakes and hasn't achieved their objectives should be critical of themselves. It isn't down to referees that Real Madrid are first," said Ramos.

Zinedine Zidane said that discussions surrounding the refs were taking away from his side's achievements.

"I'm tired of it. It's as if we only win games because of the referees. People should respect Real Madrid and what the players are doing on the pitch."
